Community of Interest Groups & Initiatives
OIDA has created Community of Interest (CoI) special interest groups of OIDA members and non-members dedicated to specific missions in particular markets or technologies. As with other OIDA activities, companies join, not individuals. Each CoI has its own mission, structure, and financial arrangement. Choose a CoI below for more details.
-
Electronics for Optics
-
Photonic Sensor Consortium
-
Silicon Photonics Alliance
-
Test and Measurement of Optical Components
A company may attend one meeting of a CoI free of charge, and may be on the e-mail reflector for a group. However, to gain access to the restricted portion of the website and to attend subsequent meetings, a company must be either an OIDA member or an OIDA CoI Affiliate member.
CoIs are run and managed by its members. Each CoI has its own charter. Administrative and logistic activities will be provided by OIDA for reasonable activities. A CoI may levy an additional fee for membership with OIDA approval to generate more funds for its activities. For larger groups, OIDA may provide staffing as needed to facilitate the groups activities and to ensure OIDA neutrality.
To start a new COI or if you have any questions, please contact David Iams (iams@oida.org).
OIDA runs some government programs that broadly benefit industry. Programs such as PTAP provide essential linkages between industry and researchers. Other areas of current program interest are photonics foundry, and providing linkages between DARPA UPR centers and industry.
