The primary objectives of the SPA are marketing related, to raise the profile of silicon photonics in the discourse, find opportunities to participate in applications forums, look at key areas for standardization, and other goals to be developed by the group.
There is no membership fee for OIDA members to join the Silicon Photonics Alliance. A nominal fee of $1,500 is required for non-OIDA member companies to participate. If you are interested, please contact David Iams (iams@oida.org).
About OIDA Community of Interest (CoI) Groups
CoIs are special interest groups of OIDA members and non-members formed to address specific topics or problems for the industry. As with other OIDA activities, companies join, not individuals. A company may attend one meeting of a CoI free of charge, and may be on the email reflector for a group. However, for access to the restricted portion of the web site and to attend subsequent meetings, a company must either be an OIDA member or join the group as a CoI affiliate member.
A CoI group is run and managed by its members. Each COI will have its own charter. Administrative and logistic activities will be provided by OIDA for reasonable activities. A CoI may levy an additional fee for membership with OIDA approval to generate more funds for its activities. For larger groups, OIDA may provide staffing as needed to facilitate the group's activities and to ensure OIDA neutrality.
For To start a new CoI or for any questions, please contact David Iams (iams@oida.org).
