OIDA Forums and Initiatives
Market Studies – OIDA identifies and develops world market statistics in optoelectronics from a user’s and a supplier’s perspective.
Technology Trends and Forums – OIDA regularly conducts technology workshops and forums, often
spotlighting specific industry segments, in order to develop and refine a consensus for five- to ten-year technology trends and to identify key areas for further research.
Annual Forum – The Annual Forum is a two-day event which provides an opportunity to meet other industry leaders and to keep abreast of the evolution of important business, technology, and policy developments affecting optoelectronics and to review international markets.
Government Relations – OIDA provides a government relations function including publishing position papers and testifying at legislative hearings. This valuable resource is helpful to all members but especially useful to members who cannot support a lobbying or legislative monitoring function. The Washington News section of the OIDA web site brings current, industry-related issues to members.
Special Initiatives – OIDA takes on special projects for industry that attack systemic problems or issues. OIDA's status as a neutral third party allows us to marshal resources from government and industry in ways that effectively address pre-competitive market and technolgoy issues. OIDA also assembles resources and teams to address a variety of issues.
Community of Interest Groups - To address the diverse interests of our members, OIDA coordinates Community of Interest (CoI) groups that are subsets of the overal OIDA membership. These groups are dedicated to specific missions in particular markets or technologies and have their own mission and structure. For OIDA members, this is a free opportunity. For non-member companies, there is a fee to join a CoI.
Industry Activities – OIDA serves companies in the following industries: communications, solar
energy, medical devices, display technologies, optical storage, materials and nanotechnology, sensors, solid-state lighting, and defense and security applications.
