Green Photonics News

Green Photonics may capture $100 billion of $345 billion market by 2015 - But do solar cells, LEDs, and optical transceivers have a common basis?

DENVER -- By 2015, "green" photonic component revenues could reach $100 billion, nearly one-third of a $345 billion base, the president of the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association said at the start of a green photonics forum here. Michael Lebby, CEO of OIDA, said that designers of full PV modules or thin films for solar cells can learn strategies on power reduction from those working on optical backplanes or interconnect.

Read the EE Times article (9/10/08) and hear Michael Lebby, OIDA, talk about green photonics.
